How to Check Laptop Manufacture Date: To determine the laptop's actual age, check the serial number, BIOS, battery, and system information. These methods will help you determine the laptop's manufacturing date.

Working professionals and students desperately need laptops for their daily work and studies. However, not everyone has the budget to purchase a new laptop, so people choose to purchase second-hand laptops from the market, which are often cheaper.

However, a major problem today is whether the second-hand laptop sold by a shopkeeper or online seller is genuine or is it as old as the shopkeeper claims. So, let us explain how you can determine whether the laptop is truly new or old, even if you've purchased a new laptop.

How to Determine the Laptop's "Date of Birth"?

Finding a laptop's "Date of Birth" isn't difficult. With just a few simple steps, you can find out when your laptop was manufactured and how old it is in minutes. If you learn this trick, no one will be able to deceive you about its true age.

Check the Serial Number

If you want to know how old or new a laptop is, the easiest way is to check the alphanumeric serial number on the back of the laptop.
Check the serial number on the laptop's packaging or warranty card. Many laptop manufacturers display the manufacturing date based on the serial number.

Check the laptop manufacturer's website

Customers wanting to know their laptop's manufacturing date can visit the laptop manufacturer's official website and enter their serial number in the Warranty Check section. This will allow you to view the warranty's start date and end date.

Manufacturing Date is displayed in the BIOS

As soon as you turn on your laptop, press the Delete, F10, or F2 button to open the BIOS/UEFI settings. Open the System Information, Main, or About tab. You'll see the laptop's manufacturing date there.

Check the Laptop Battery

If you have the laptop's original battery, you can find out its manufacturing date. To do this, open CMD in Windows and run the powercfg /batteryreport command. This will generate an HTML report, which you can open to view details like the Manufacture Date, Design Capacity, and Cycle Count.

Check the Laptop's System Information

Go to System Information on your laptop to view the BIOS Date and OS Installation Date. Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter. The System Summary will open, where you'll see the BIOS Version Date and Original Install Date.
