Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra have approached the Bombay High Court requesting permission to travel to London due to a serious medical emergency concerning the father of Raj Kundra. They have filed an application seeking the temporary removal of the Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against them in connection with a 60 crore fraud case.

The couple reportedly want to leave before the 20th of January 2026, as the health of Raj Kundra’s father is deteriorating rapidly.

In their affidavit, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra mentioned that the elderly Mr Kundra has been suffering from iron-ammonia deficiency of a chronic nature, and it recently gave rise to significant internal complications and major blood loss. According to the doctors, the tests to be done would include a repeat capsule endoscopy or double-balloon enteroscopy to determine the cause of the disorder. The petition also says that he has been short of breath and his overall condition has been gradually deteriorating. The couple, therefore, requires permission urgently so that they can go to London to see him.

At the beginning of the year, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) initiated a case against the duo and an unknown person following a complaint by Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari. According to the complaint, Kothari invested 60.4 crore between 2015 and 2023 in what he thought was a loan-cum-investment deal related to Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a company that was closed and was associated with Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra.

He states that the money was supposed to be used for the growth of the business but instead was diverted for personal use. The EOW is in the process of looking into the transactions and financial records related to the case.

Prashant Patil, lawyer of Shetty and Kundra, has refuted the charges by saying that it is a purely civil matter and has already been resolved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) in October 2024. Patil pointed out that the company had gone through financial difficulties and was involved in a long-drawn legal process, but emphasised that there was no criminal conduct.
