A first-year MBBS student at Chamba Medical College has reported incidents of ragging by senior peers, raising significant alarm among college officials.

Following the submission of a formal complaint, the college administration swiftly instructed the Anti-Ragging Committee to initiate an inquiry. Given the seriousness of the allegations, 13 medical trainees have already been questioned individually to gather relevant information.

The complainant, hailing from Solan district, claimed to have experienced mental distress and inappropriate conduct from upperclassmen. Tensions escalated on Tuesday when a group of individuals entered the college grounds and shouted slogans, prompting security personnel to step in to restore calm.

The Anti-Ragging Committee is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the validity of the claims, focusing on the timing, location, and involvement of the students mentioned. The college administration has pledged that if the allegations are substantiated, severe consequences will be imposed on those found guilty.

Officials have reiterated that any form of indiscipline, ragging, or psychological harassment will be met with zero tolerance. Both the complainant and the accused are being monitored closely throughout the investigation to avoid the spread of misinformation or further unrest.
