The release date for the third season of The Night Agent has been unveiled in a thrilling new trailer, and fans won't have to wait much longer.

Netflix's popular spy drama features Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland, an FBI Agent assigned to the Night Action shift at the White House.

In this season, Peter embarks on a worldwide mission to expose a lethal conspiracy that's closer to home than ever before.

The fresh trailer launched this week begins with the agent entering a packed stadium in pursuit of a target, portrayed by Suraj Sharma. Fans are buzzing as Turkish football club Beikta Jimnastik Kulübü is seen playing during the tense scene.

Promising to extract him safely from the situation, the clip then transitions to some explosive action sequences, including a high-speed car chase, armed attackers, and fierce hand-to-hand combat, reports the Mirror.

Fans also get their first glimpse of newcomer Stephen Moyer in an enigmatic role. Genesis Rodriguez and David Lyons are joining the cast, along with returning star Louis Herthum as intelligence broker Jacob Monroe.

Newly released first-look images also offer sneak peeks at Amanda Warren reprising her role as Peter's handler, Catherine Weaver, Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, and Albert Jones as Deputy FBI Director Aiden Mosley. However, fan-favourite Luciane Buchanan will not be returning as Rose Larkin.

Shawn Ryan has promised "an adrenaline-fueled thrill ride across Istanbul, Mexico City, Washington, New York, and the Dominican Republic" for the eagerly-awaited third series, landing on Netflix this coming February.

Speaking via Tudum, he elaborated: "Peter grapples with a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the White House, a dogged reporter with a hot tip and a murky past, a murder suspect trying to clear his name, a mysterious father and son leaving a trail of bodies in their wake, old friends in danger, a collection of familiar and new foes, and a new partner who could be his salvation - or his doom."

Ryan added: "Amidst these new characters and challenges, Peter will reckon with hard truths and confront the impact of what being a night agent has personally cost him and how it has changed him, for better and for worse."

Viewers were delighted to discover The Night Agent would be returning so swiftly following its second series, which launched on the streaming service this January.

"Glad we're getting a third season a lot sooner. Fantastic series. Can't wait," one X user posted.

"I hope this show lasts for many seasons because #TheNightAgent is so f***ing good," another responded.

A final fan declared: "Oooooooo lets goo!! This show is so goood!!"

The Night Agent season 3 premieres Thursday, February 19th on Netflix.
