Some farewells don’t arrive with words. They arrive quietly through memories images and moments that speak for themselves. Actor Esha Deol chose that path as she paid tribute to her late father legendary star Dharmendra with a deeply moving video that celebrated both the icon the world knew and the man his family loved.
What did Esha Deol share in her tribute?
On Thursday Esha posted a video montage on Instagram that traced Dharmendra’s extraordinary life on screen and beyond it. The tribute featured scenes from his most memorable films reminding viewers of the actor’s effortless charm and enduring presence in Indian cinema. One standout moment was a rare clip of Dilip Kumar praising Dharmendra at an award ceremony an exchange between two giants that felt especially poignant in retrospect.

How did the video reflect Dharmendra’s personal life?
Beyond his cinematic legacy the tribute opened a window into Dharmendra’s family world. It included rare photographs of his first wife Prakash Kaur and their children—Sunny Deol Bobby Deol Vijeta Deol and Ajeeta Deol images that are seldom seen in the public domain. The montage also featured warm moments shared by Dharmendra with Esha Hema Malini and his sons along with a touching frame of him with his grandson Karan Deol.
These images stitched together different chapters of his life presenting a fuller portrait of the man behind the legend.
Why did the final moments strike an emotional chord?
The video concluded with Dharmendra’s final on-screen appearance from the upcoming film Ikkis. His voiceover reflected on life’s fleeting nature likening it to ice that briefly holds its form before melting away beautiful while it lasts inevitable in its end. The words lingered long after the video ended.
What’s happening within the family now?
Following Dharmendra’s passing on November 24 at the age of 89 the family held prayer meetings separately. His sons Sunny and Bobby Deol organised a ceremony in Mumbai on November 27. On December 11 Hema Malini along with daughters Esha and Ahana Deol held a separate prayer meet in Delhi. Dharmendra is survived by six children four from his marriage to Prakash Kaur and two from his marriage to Hema Malini.
