The Aadhaar card has become the most important identity document for every Indian today. From banking to government schemes, it is required everywhere. If any information on your Aadhaar is incorrect, your work can get stalled. For many people, their childhood photo on their Aadhaar card becomes a major problem.
Sometimes, as people grow older, the photo on their Aadhaar card becomes so different that their identity is questioned. In such situations, people hesitate to show their Aadhaar card. If you also want to avoid this hesitation, then changing the photo on your Aadhaar card is the best option.
The facility to change the photo on your Aadhaar card is provided by UIDAI. However, unlike a name, address, or mobile number, the photo cannot be updated online. For this, it is necessary to visit an Aadhaar enrollment or service centre.
There, your new photo will be taken, and the biometric process will be completed. To update your photo, you first need to visit the official UIDAI website, uidai.gov.in. Here, in the My Aadhaar section, you will find the Enrollment and Update Forms option.
You need to download and print this form and fill in your necessary information. Take the filled-out form to the nearest Aadhaar service centre. There, your form will be checked. After that, your new photo will be taken, and an iris scan will be performed.
The entire process is carried out under UIDAI rules to ensure there are no errors. A fixed fee has to be paid for updating the photo. A fee of Rs. 100 is charged, which includes GST. After the process is complete, you will be given a URN number.
You can check the status of your Aadhaar update using this number. Updating your photo in Aadhaar usually takes 30 to 90 days. During this time, you can track the status by visiting the UIDAI website and entering your URN number.
