  • It wasn’t just that luck was stronger, it was the will to live;
  • Fell from a height of 10 thousand feet and..,
  • A thrilling story of a plane crash

We have a saying that ‘Who killed the star of God’? In fact, if God is the savior and doesn’t walk, you too need a burning desire to help yourself to save yourself and most importantly, to survive. A plane crash testifies to this. Let us know the story of this shocking plane crash.

Here’s the story: In 1971, a passenger plane was blown to pieces by a freak lightning storm in the Amazon. It is better not to imagine what happened to the passengers of the plane where the plane crashed from a height of 10 thousand feet. There were 92 passengers in the plane, but a 17-year-old girl survived the accident. She was the only person who survived the accident. This girl’s name is Juliane Koepke.

Surviving a plane crash, Julia falls from the sky into the Amazon jungle. According to investigative reports at the time, the plane was LANSA Flight 508 en route from Lima, Peru to Pucallpa. According to witnesses and investigative reports, a lightning strike in a storm cloud caused structural damage to the plane and disintegrated mid-air.

Julia was trapped in her row of seats when she fell. Later, in a study of the crash, researchers concluded that the row of seats created air resistance, which slowed her fall and increased her chances of survival. But the real challenge was ahead of Julia.

She regained consciousness after falling in the forest. After falling from such a height, the eyes were swollen, the injuries on the body, the damage to the eyes was visible. She could not hear any sounds of people, nor engines, nor rescuers. Only the Amazon forest spread on all sides.

It was the environment in which she fell. Amazon jungle in Peru. After surviving the big accident, now the next danger is that of wild animals. Poisonous snakes. Big violent animals like jaguars. Parasitic insects. The deadly germs in the water added to the wounds on her body. Due to the dense vegetation, the sunlight was not reaching. It was also difficult to see. I cannot even imagine how she survived such a situation.

It wasn’t like Julia had never seen a forest. Her parents were German zoologists and worked at a biological research center.
As a child, she was taught to identify plants, avoid hazards, and increase the chances of finding people if she went downstream, and this learning helped her save her life.

A struggling journey of eleven days

She found a small stream and started walking towards it. The stream continued to the larger body of water just as she had learned.
Food was very scarce. If you do not get water to drink, it is certain that you will die. She took the risk and drank the river water.
Her wounds deepened. She realized that one of the wounds had insect larvae, common in tropical forests.
Still she kept walking.

After about eleven days, she found a simple shelter used by lumberjacks.
The workers came there the next day. They administered first aid. She was then taken several hours by boat to a nearby village and medical help. Doctors marveled at her endurance for the 11 days after the plane crash and survival.
After the rescue, Julia is reunited with her father. Unfortunately, her mother was on the same plane and Julia’s mother died in it.

This was the rebirth that Julia received twice from the difficult situation. Julia then chose biology, completed her doctorate, and contributed to research to the Amazon. Her story has come to the world through academic studies, documentaries, and her autobiography.

Julia’s life is often looked to as the next example. Because not only was her luck stronger but she was also determined to live. Knowledge became the most effective tool to save her life. She overcame her fears with calm decisiveness and prepared to overcome adversity. She did not survive only because of physical strength. She was able to persevere because of her education and fearless attitude. Julia continues to inspire many to live today.
