Suryakumar Yadav’s Team India are 2-1 up in the five-match T20I series after their six-wicket win in the third game at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday. There is however a major concern with their lead bowler Jasprit Bumrah returning home ahead of third game. While all-rounder Axar Patel was ruled out due to injury the BCCI only mentioned that Bumrah was returning home due to a ‘family emergency’. Now PTI news agency have reported that Bumrah’s close family member is admitted in hospital and the Mumbai Indians pacer will only be available if all goes well with the family. According to PTI a very close family member of Bumrah is currently hospitalised prompting the cricketer to return home. “If all goes well then he might return for the fourth or even fifth game (in Ahmedabad). But first priority is recovery of his family member” the PTI report stated.   Arshdeep Singh Jasprit Bumrah Hardik Pandya The 100 wickets club India in Men’s T20 cricket #indvssa #viratkohli #rohitsharma #shubmangill #bharatarmy #COTI #rishabhpant #jaspritbumrah #dhoni pic.twitter.com/xy4hYswNwo — The Bharat Army (@thebharatarmy) December 15 2025 Bumrah claimed his record 100th wicket in T20I cricket earlier in this series. He is the first Indian cricketer to claim 100 wickets in all three formats of the game. He had claimed 2/17 in the first T20I match in Cuttack but conceded 45 runs in his 4 overs in the second T20I match in New Chandigarh. The BCCI has also made it mandatory for all contracted cricketers to at least play a couple of matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025 tournament starting on December 24. Former India captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have already communicated to Mumbai and Delhi that they will competing in the VHT 2025. The decision has been communicated to all the cricketers by Ajit Agarkar-led national selection committee. Other senior cricketers like Shubman Gill Jasprit Bumrah KL Rahul Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav have also been asked to play at least two games for their respective teams. “There are six rounds of Vijay Hazare Trophy scheduled between December 24 and start of the New Zealand ODIs. It is up to the players and their state associations to decide which two rounds they would like to play. But after the second T20I in Mullanpur the players have been categorically told that playing Hazare isnt optional” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by BCCI. The Board is only giving exception to those cricketers who have checked into Centre of Excellence (CoE) due to injury or have been asked not to return to professional cricket.
