Rob Reiner: Authorities announced on Monday that Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, had been detained on suspicion of killing his parents, according to Variety.

According to the site, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s web records show that Nick Reiner was taken into custody on Sunday at 9:15 p.m. and booked on Monday at 5:04 a.m.
Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed the arrest at a news conference on Monday, stating that Nick Reiner had been “booked for murder.”
“A very, very tragic incident,” Variety cited McDonnell as saying.
No charges have been brought yet. According to a news statement from the LAPD, detectives anticipate filing the case on Tuesday at the District Attorney’s office.
Originally set at USD 4 million, Nick Reiner’s bail was eventually withdrawn. He is still being detained without bond at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown Los Angeles, according to jail records, the site said.
At around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday, Rob Reiner and his spouse, Michele, were discovered deceased inside their Brentwood home. At the time, the Los Angeles Police Department said that their deaths were being investigated as homicides, although they had not yet named a suspect or taken anybody into custody.
In a statement, a family representative stated, “We announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner with profound sorrow.” “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” according to Variety.
On Sunday evening, the Los Angeles Times reported that police were questioning a member of the Reiner family. People magazine soon revealed that some family members had accused Nick Reiner of being behind the murders.
In addition to co-writing the 2015 film “Being Charlie,” which was directed by Rob Reiner and focused on the experience of addiction, Nick Reiner has previously discussed his battles with addiction in public.
The other two children of Rob and Michele Reiner are daughter Romy and son Jake Reiner, who used to work as a local news reporter for KCAL Los Angeles. Variety reports that during his marriage to actress and director Penny Marshall, Rob Reiner also adopted a daughter, Tracy Reiner.
