Netflix fans are up in arms as a beloved drama is leaving the streaming platform on Thursday, December 18. The American series, which ended in 2020 after 327 episodes, was created by Eric Kripke and has since become a global phenomenon.
The project had been in development for a whole decade as Kripke spent several years unsuccessfully pitching it. The story follows two brothers as they hunt demons, ghosts and monsters.
The series in question, Supernatural, will be leaving Netflix in the US only, as it is not currently available to stream in the UK on the same platform. Fans in the UK can still watch the series on Prime Video.
Fans took to IMDb reviews to share their thoughts on the series, with many hailing it as some of the best TV they have ever watched. This is also not the first time they have shared their strong opinions on the series.
Platypuschow called it "a masterpiece of mixed emotions", adding: "15 seasons, 15 years, 327 episodes, like it or hate it Supernatural was a remarkable success story made good mostly in my opinion by the fantastic cast who kept the show enjoyable because you came to care about them so much.
"This made even more intense by the fact any character was expendable, even if statistically the chances of them returning was still very high."
Supermanfan-13 shared: "Supernatural is so much better than I expected it to be. I just binged the entire series on Netflix and it has quickly become one of my favorite shows ever.
"Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) were perfect for their roles and lead what is an overall great cast."
Innominate_z added: "You can really sum it up to one sentence. Supernatural family for life.
"I have watched this TV show since season two, re-watched it countless times, that's hundreds of hours of my life just for one show, and better believe that I don't regret a second of it."
After hearing the news that the series would be leaving Netflix soon, they took to Reddit to express their disappointment.
SSSnowBell said: "No way in hell I'm paying the ever-increasing subscription after they butcher my bingeables. Like literally, is there a more expensive streaming service than Netflix? I'm so done with Netflix come December."
Suspended__in__Gaffa added: "YIKES. Supernatural?! That is a big loss. Glad I bought the boxed set recently. *Sigh* Once Stranger Things is over, I think it may be time for me to pull the plug on Netflix.
"End of an era. I miss when I could watch Supernatural, Doctor Who, The Office, and Parks and Rec all on Netflix."
Thankfully, Supernatural isn't disappearing completely as Warner Bros, the show's original owner, is moving the series to Peacock.
Supernatural is leaving Netflix US on Thursday, December 18. Fans in the UK can watch the series on Prime Video.
