Specifics of the Arrest

Police got a tip late on Tuesday night that someone was traveling along the embankment road from the direction of Transport Nagar with a large amount of drugs. In the Majnu outpost area, a police squad quickly set up shop next to an underpass on the Mohripur-Sinhorwa route.

The suspect tried to run when they saw the police, but they were pursued and caught a short distance away. Police found 105 grams of heroin in a plastic box during a search. The culprit revealed during questioning that he was Jhinak Nishad, a resident of Jungle Dhusar Hasanpur, which is within the jurisdiction of the Pipraich police station.

Relation to the Murder of NEET Students

According to police investigations, Nishad was sought in relation to the murder of NEET student Deepak, which took place in the Pipraich region on the evening of September 15–16. The participation of criminals connected to livestock smuggling was brought to light by the murder inquiry. Jhinak Nishad’s name was on a chargesheet that the Special Task Force (STF) had previously filed against four livestock traffickers in this case.

Smuggling Syndicate Role

The inquiry found that Nishad had a strong hold over a well-organized livestock smuggling network. His responsibilities included:

giving smugglers information about police activity.
assisting smugglers in avoiding law enforcement by directing them along safe routes.

obtaining a commission “per head of cattle” in exchange for his labor.
He had been on the radar of law enforcement and security services for a considerable amount of time as a result of his actions.

Legal Action and Additional Research

Nishad is the subject of a police complaint filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On Wednesday, he appeared in court and was then sent to prison.

According to CO Campierganj, Anurag Singh, the police are presently looking into where the confiscated heroin came from and where it was going. Additionally, the identities of additional people engaged in narcotics and livestock smuggling have been made public via the accused’s questioning. As they prepare to take further action, police are now compiling evidence against these associates.
