After getting WiFi broadband internet installed at home, people are most often frustrated by the fact that the signal doesn't reach all rooms properly. While there's full signal strength near the router, inner rooms suffer from weak signals and slow internet. Many people install a second router to deal with this, but there's an easier and cheaper option: a Powerline Ethernet Adapter. These are plugged into electrical outlets, after which the existing electrical wiring in the house becomes the medium for transmitting the internet, providing full WiFi coverage even in the inner rooms. Let's learn more about Powerline Ethernet Adapters in detail.

What are Powerline Ethernet Adapters?
According to the TP-Link website (ref.), Powerline Ethernet Adapters transform the electrical wiring in any building or home into a network cable. They transmit the internet from one room to another through the electrical wires. By plugging them into electrical sockets, high-speed internet can be used from one room to another in the house using Powerline Ethernet Adapters. They come in sets of two adapters.

Why are Powerline Ethernet Adapters needed?
In large homes, people face connectivity problems after installing broadband because WiFi signals don't reach many rooms. If your house is large and has thick walls, the signals become weak. In such situations, a range extender, or Ethernet adapter, comes in handy. By installing it, high-speed internet can be provided to the areas where it's needed.

Advantages of installing Powerline Ethernet Adapters
Installing Ethernet adapters eliminates the need for drilling or laying separate wires in the house. The adapter works by simply plugging it into a power socket. According to the report, once plugged in, the Ethernet adapter starts functioning like a LAN port. One adapter is plugged in where the Wi-Fi router is located. The other adapter is placed in the room where the signal is weak.

How to install a Powerline Ethernet Adapter?
You can find Powerline Ethernet adapters online or offline. They are available from different companies and at varying prices. They typically cost between 2,000 and 4,000 rupees. If you are buying one for your home, get a two-pair Ethernet adapter. These can be wired or wireless. The box will contain two adapters and a user guide. One adapter will be placed near the main router. Plug the adapter into a power socket and connect it to the router using a LAN cable. This will create a separate connection that will extend through the electrical wiring in your house. Now, go to the room where the signal is weak. Plug the second adapter into a power socket in that room. As soon as the green light illuminates, you will have a strong internet connection.

Things to keep in mind:
When buying a Powerline Ethernet adapter, check how large an area it can cover.

Also, ensure that the room where the router is located and the room with the weak signal are on the same electrical circuit (phase).

Many Ethernet adapters have a separate network name and password; check these before connecting.
