Uttar Pradesh:  Police officials in Uttar Pradesh have arrested a man accused of brutally killing his elderly parents following prolonged family disputes and disposing of their bodies in the Gomti river. The incident has sent shockwaves through Ahmadpur village, located under the jurisdiction of the Jafrabad police station. According to investigators, the crime stemmed from internal family tensions related to money and unresolved domestic issues, ultimately leading to a deeply disturbing act of violence.

Background of the Incident

The accused, identified as Ambesh, allegedly murdered his father Shyam Bahadur, aged 61, and his mother Babita, aged 58, inside their own home. Shyam Bahadur was a retired railway employee, well known in the locality. Neighbors described the family as relatively quiet, with no immediate signs that such an extreme act could occur within the household. Police stated that disputes over finances and family matters had been ongoing for some time, eventually escalating into fatal violence.

Sequence of Events on the Night of the Crime

According to City Superintendent of Police Ayush Srivastava, the crime took place on the night of December 8. Investigations revealed that Ambesh first attacked his mother using a pestle commonly used for grinding spices in the kitchen. The assault proved fatal. When his father attempted to intervene and tried to contact the police for help, the accused struck him on the head with the same object. Authorities stated that Ambesh later strangled his father with a rope to ensure his death.

The methodical nature of the attack suggests that the crime was not an impulsive act but the result of simmering anger and resentment within the family.

Dismemberment and Disposal of the Bodies

After committing the murders, the accused allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by dismembering the bodies. Police reports indicate that Ambesh used an iron rod-cutting saw to cut the bodies into pieces. He then packed the remains into six plastic sacks. Using his car, he transported the sacks and dumped them into the Gomti river at different locations to avoid detection.

This attempt to destroy evidence added a chilling dimension to the case, highlighting the calculated efforts made to mislead both family members and law enforcement agencies.

Efforts to Mislead Family Members

Following the incident, Ambesh reportedly tried to divert suspicion by telling his sisters that their parents had gone out on December 8. For several days, he maintained this false narrative. However, when his sisters grew increasingly concerned and insisted on approaching the police, he switched off his mobile phone and left the area.

Police said he traveled to Jaunpur railway station and later visited ghats in Varanasi, possibly in an attempt to evade authorities or further dispose of evidence. His sudden disappearance only heightened the family’s suspicions.

Missing Persons Complaint and Breakthrough

On December 13, the sisters officially lodged a missing persons complaint for their parents as well as for Ambesh, who had by then gone incommunicado. This complaint triggered a more focused investigation by local police teams.

The accused returned home on December 15. During a confrontation with his sisters, he reportedly broke down and confessed to the crime. Shocked by the revelation, his sister Archana immediately approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Arrest and Police Action

Based on the complaint and subsequent investigation, police registered a case and arrested Ambesh on December 16. Station House Officer Shri Prakash Shukla confirmed that all incriminating materials connected to the crime were recovered during the investigation. These included tools used in the murders and evidence related to the disposal of the bodies.

The accused has been sent to judicial custody, and further legal proceedings are underway. Police officials stated that the case underscores the importance of addressing domestic disputes before they escalate into irreversible tragedies.
