Especially in cases of non-immigrant visas like H-1B, H-4, F-1 and J-1, more investigation is being done. Due to this, there is already a delay in visa appointment and processing. Now this delay may increase further due to the embassy being closed for three days.
Those whose visa appointment was scheduled for 24, 25 or 26 December 2025, do not need to worry. Such applicants will be given a new date by the US Embassy through official email or online portal. Complete information related to rescheduling the appointment will be shared through official channels.
Actually, this closure is part of the decision to keep American government offices closed on the occasion of Christmas. A few days ago, US President Donald Trump had signed an executive order in this regard. The order issued on the White House website states that all US federal government departments and agencies will remain closed on December 24, 2025 (the day before Christmas) and December 26, 2025 (the day after Christmas). There is already a Christmas holiday on 25th December.
It has also been said in this order that due to national security, defense or any urgent public need, some departments or employees may be called to work on these days. But consular services related to common citizens will not be provided during this period.
