Aditya Dhar’s high-octane action drama Dhurandhar starring Ranveer Singh in a fierce new avatar has turned into a full-blown box office phenomenon. Nearly three weeks after its release the film shows no signs of slowing down and continues to pull massive crowds across the country. Released on December 5 Dhurandhar has not only sustained its momentum but also crossed the Rs 600 crore mark in India a milestone very few films manage to achieve. While weekday numbers saw a slight dip Rs 16.5 crore on Monday and Rs 17.25 crore on Tuesday the overall trend remains solid. Is Dhurandhar closing in on a historic record? With its current pace Dhurandhar is now dangerously close to surpassing the lifetime collection of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning which earned around Rs 650 crore worldwide. Trade experts believe that the film could comfortably cross the Rs 1000 crore global mark in the coming days especially with strong overseas performance and repeat audiences in India. The film has already outperformed recent big-ticket releases like Animal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan making it one of the biggest Hindi blockbusters in recent years.
