Money transactions - On the first day of the new year, you should avoid borrowing money, nor borrowing nor lending money. Avoid exchanging money for puja items, groceries, or any other small task. According to astrologer Anish Vyas, borrowing money on the first day of the new year can lead to financial difficulties.

Avoid arguments – Goddess Lakshmi always resides in a home filled with joy and happiness. Therefore, avoid any conflict on the first day of the year. Also, if you are lacking something or are troubled by something, avoid shedding tears. It is said that doing so will cause you to remain stressed day after day.  

Do not wear these clothes – On the first day of the year, do not wear torn, old, black clothes or clothes borrowed from someone. According to astrology, doing so will anger Goddess Lakshmi and you may be tempted by bad luck.

Avoid darkness in the house - Darkness in the house, especially in the north-east corner, is tantamount to inviting poverty. Be sure to light a lamp at the main entrance and at the place of worship.

Don't wake up late – After celebrating on December 31st, many people wake up late on the first day of the New Year due to laziness. This is not auspicious. Laziness is a poison that destroys a person's life.
