The nursery admission process in Delhi schools is now in the hands of the schools. Data uploading, point allocation, and selection lists will be released according to the scheduled dates.

The nursery admission process in Delhi schools has entered a new phase. After the deadline for parents to fill out applications, the focus is now on the schools. Schools will upload children's data, determine points, and release the selection lists. Let's find out the details...

As soon as the application process for nursery admissions closes, the school's role begins. From January 9th, schools will start uploading the details of registered children to the portal. After this, by January 16th, schools will upload points based on the official point system. Parents eagerly await the first selection list. This list will be released on January 23rd. Parents of children whose names are not on the first list need not worry, as there will be further opportunities.

Opportunity to raise objections and ask questions

According to media reports, if there are any errors or objections in the first list, parents can register their complaints between January 24th and February 3rd. After this, the second selection list will be released on February 9th. If there are any questions regarding the second list, complaints will be addressed between February 10th and February 16th. If seats remain vacant after this, the next list may be released on March 5th. The entire admission process will conclude on March 19th.

What are the age rules?

The age rule is very important in nursery admissions. According to the new rules, the minimum age of the child is determined as of March 31, 2026. For Nursery (Bal Vatika-1 / Pre-School 1), the child's age should be between 3 and 4 years. For KG, the child's age should be between 4 and 5 years. For admission to Class 1, the child's age should be between 5 and 6 years. The government has also clarified that these new-age rules will be fully implemented from the academic session 2026-27.

30-Day Relaxation Option

Schools have been given the option to grant a relaxation of up to 30 days in the child's age at the request of the parents. However, this decision will depend entirely on the school's rules and its discretion.

What should parents do?

Parents need to be vigilant throughout this entire process. Regularly check the official admission portal and the school's website. Once the selection list is released, carefully verify the marks and details. If any discrepancy is found, file a complaint within the stipulated time. After selection, keep all the necessary documents ready in advance to avoid any future complications.
