Full Train Booking Process: An entire train can be booked for weddings or large group trips. This facility is available through the railway's FTR service. However, it is essential to know the rules, timings, and costs in advance.
When a family is large or a whole group of friends wants to travel together for a wedding or a special occasion, booking a bus or car is common. But many people wonder if an entire train can also be booked. The answer is yes. Indian Railways offers this facility.
This facility of Indian Railways is known as the Full Tariff Rate (FTR) service. Under this, you can book an entire train or a few coaches as needed. This facility is specially designed for weddings, religious trips, corporate tours, or large groups, allowing everyone to travel together comfortably.
If you want to book a train or coach, you need to use the IRCTC's FTR service. Bookings can be made at least 30 days and a maximum of 6 months in advance of the journey. This facility is not available at the last minute. Therefore, you need to plan everything in advance.
A fixed deposit has to be paid at the time of booking. A security deposit of approximately Rs. 50,000 is required for one coach. If you book more coaches, the deposit amount increases accordingly. This amount is adjusted or refunded after the completion of the journey, as per the rules.
If your journey is longer than 7 days, an additional charge is levied for each extra day. The online FTR portal usually allows booking up to two coaches at a time. Booking an entire train online at once is not possible. For this, an offline process has to be followed.
For online application, you need to visit the ftr.irctc.co.in website. There, you have to fill in all the details such as the date of travel, stations, number of coaches, and class of coaches. After that, you have to submit the request along with the prescribed fee. You get 6 days to make the payment.
If you wish to apply offline, you will need to contact the reservation office or the relevant railway official at the station from where the train originates. The process of booking the entire train or multiple coaches is completed by submitting an application there.
