Moises Caicedo will miss this weekend's trip to Manchester City with the Chelsea midfielder picking up a yellow card in the Blues' clash with Bournemouth this evening.

The booking came four minutes in after Caicedo fouled Bournemouth's Adrien Truffert by tripping him up as the Cherries star was on the counter-attack. Tonight marks the midway point of the Premier League season, the 19th match of Chelsea's campaign and therefore the cut-off point for five yellow cards equalling a suspension.

Caicedo recorded his fourth booking of the campaign in Saturday's defeat to Aston Villa and has picked up a second successive caution in this evening's fixture with the Cherries at Stamford Bridge.

The Ecuador international will now serve his one-match suspension when Chelsea travel to Manchester to take on City on January 4.

Chelsea's night took another bad turn moments later when David Brooks was left unchallenged to meet a ball in the box.

His header was initially saved by Robert Sanchez, but the loose ball fell kindly for Brooks and he prodded in.

But matters improved for Enzo Maresca's side around ten minutes later when Cole Palmer equalised from the penalty spot.

Chelsea's spot-kick was awarded after a clumsy challenge in the box by Manchester City-bound Antoine Semenyo on Estevao.

Reacting on Sky Sports News to the penalty award, former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson said: "Sam Barrott has now gone to have a look at the monitor. Craig Pawson is in VAR he is going to have said to him 'you need to go and have a look at this'.

"And he is going to be clear. We have seen it, me and Mike (Dean) both agree... because Estevao does so well to go past Truffert and he gets in front of Semenyo and his knee, shin sort of just catches the back of him.

"Once he gets into the box Semenyo has to be so careful.

"He just catches the back of his calf, makes his feet go together.

"We got to the right outcome, it was a penalty. Maybe we could have got to it a bit quicker."
