The nomination process for the Municipal Corporation elections 2025 to be held in Maharashtra has been completed. According to the Received Nominations Final Report released by the election officials, a total of 33,606 nominations have been filed for 29 municipal corporations of the state. In these elections, candidates are in the fray for a total of 893 divisions (wards) and 2,869 corporator posts. Elections for these 29 municipal corporations will be held on January 15 and the election results will be released on January 16.
The highest number of nominations have been registered in Pune Municipal Corporation, where 3,179 nominations have been filed for 165 seats. There itself Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) 2,516 nominations have been received for 227 seats.

632 nominations have been filed for 95 seats in Mira-Bhayander, 860 nominations for 122 seats in Kalyan-Dombivli, 1,033 nominations for 90 seats in Bhiwandi-Nizampur, 1,260 nominations have been filed for 65 seats in Jalna.

It is clear from the huge number of nominations filed across the state that there is tremendous enthusiasm among political parties and independent candidates regarding the Municipal Corporation elections. Now after scrutiny of nominations and withdrawal of nominations, the picture of the electoral field will become more clear.
A big development has come to light in the politics of Malegaon. Islam Party has achieved its first major success by opening its account in Malegaon. Islam Party candidate Munira Sheikh Faqir Mohammad has been elected unopposed.
According to the information, the only rival candidate standing in front of her withdrew his nomination, after which the victory of Munira Sheikh Faqir Mohammad was ensured without opposition. After withdrawal of nominations during the election process, he was officially declared elected.
After this historic victory, tremendous enthusiasm was seen among the workers of Islam Party in Malegaon. Supporters and workers of former party MLA Asif Shaikh celebrated vigorously, distributed sweets and raised slogans.
According to political experts, this is considered to be the first unopposed victory of Islam Party in Malegaon, which is being seen as a big achievement for the party. With this victory, there is a possibility of changing the equations in the local politics of Malegaon in the coming days.
