Protein is a very important macronutrient as it helps to build muscle and keeps you fuller for longer, so you should try and eat a source for every meal. You can't go wrong with salmon, and with so many recipes out there, you'll never run out of things to try. One 'luscious' topping loved by Mary Berry adds a touch of decadence, while still being packed with nutrients.

One of the best things about salmon is how quickly it cooks, and this recipe is no different. Mary's oven-baked salmon with a 'luscious' parmesan and parsley crust is ready in just 15 minutes, serving as the perfect quick and healthy dinner to kickstart your year.

The recipe notes on BBC Food hailed the dish as 'foolproof', ensuring it'll be on the table in 'no time'. With protein-rich salmon, fresh ingredients like garlic and lemon and a decadent touch of cream cheese, it's guaranteed to become your new go-to esay recipe.

Here's everything you need to make this recipe, which serves six.

Ingredients

  • Six 150g salmon fillets, skinned
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 150g cream cheese
  • Small clove garlic, crushed
  • Half a lemon, grated rind only
  • 25g fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 25g fresh, coarsely grated parmesan
  • Two tbsp chopped fresh parsley, plus extra to garnish
  • Paprika

Method

Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6. Season both sides of the salmon fillets with salt and pepper and place on a greased baking sheet or roasting tin.

Then, mix the cream cheese with the garlic, salt and pepper and lemon rind, split into six portions and spread on top of each salmon fillet.

Mix the breadcrumbs, parmesan and parsley in a small bowl and season, before sprinkling on top of the cream cheese mixture and dusting with paprika.

Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes until the salmon is pink and opaque, and serve immediately with chopped parsley.
