Bollywood Film Ikkis: Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar's blasts and noises are still going on, at such a time, Shriram Raghavan's Twenty-one Itihasa's immortal pages makes it emotional in a different mood. In his last film, Dharmendra's acting and generosity won the hearts of the world. Here, Dharmendra has played the role of Brigadier (Retd.) Madan Khetrapal, whose son Brigadier Arun Khetrapal was martyred in the 1971 war with Pakistan, yet he has no hatred for anyone in his heart. Why after all? We will tell this further. It is also important to know why Dharmendra's character forgave the Pakistani Army officer who took his son's life.

From this point of view, Dhurandhar attacks and destroys more in a particular style, whereas in Twenty One, along with war, peace and love have also been advocated. It should not be forgotten that Twenty One is a war movie but its message is against war. There are many fronts where this film goes against the narrative of Dhurandhar. The attitudes of both the films made at the same time keeping India and Pakistan at the center are different. Here we are discussing Dhurandhar and Ikkis together because both have war with Pakistan in their background. It is patriotism. It is patriotism. There is a passion to defeat Pakistan.

Ikkis Film Bollywood

Entered Pakistan even during the war of 71

Just as in Dhurandhar, an undercover agent of India is working on a mission to destroy the enemies of his country by entering inside Pakistan, similarly in Twenty-one, India's brave soldiers are achieving victory by going inside the border of Pakistan. The difference is that the foundation of Dhurandhar is imaginary, whereas Ikkis I is an unforgettable chapter of the history of the 1971 war. At the center of the story is the saga of bravery of martyr Arun Khetrapal, who received the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. His bravery has been saluted by the Pakistani Brigadier in front of whom he was martyred due to circumstances.

Dev Anand's photo, Shamshad Begum's voice

There is Lyari in Dhurandhar, there is Karachi, Usha Uthup's voice in the background of the murder scene. Rambha ho ho ho… There are disco songs… along with Pakistani singer Hasan Jahangir's Hawa Hawa Ae Hawa… classic songs like Na To Caravan Ki Talaash Hai… have also been used… whereas in Ikkis, some old songs and pictures of Hindi films have been used to evoke nostalgia… The story of Ikkis is not Lyari's imagination but the real war of Sargodha and Basantar. When Dharmendra goes inside Pakistan and sees Dev Anand's photo and listens to the songs of Hindi films there, he becomes emotional. Singing in the voice of Shamshad Begum in this scenario Chandni came as love, O Saajna… is heard and Rajendra Krishna's song is also mentioned.

Agastya Nanda impressed as Arun Khetrapal

In the story of the film, the scenarios between 1971 and 2001 keep changing. Thirty years have passed since the Kargil war. Son Arun Khetrapal's war and father Madan Khetrapal's trip to Pakistan are shown simultaneously on screen. Madan Khetrapal first goes to his village in Sargodha, Pakistan and then to the place of the Battle of Basantar, where his son was martyred in the 1971 war. Amitabh Bachchan's grandson Agastya Nanda has impressed the audience with the role of Arun Khetrapal.

The unique thing is that during the trip to Pakistan, Dharmendra (Madan Khetrapal) was accompanied by none other than Jaan Mohd, the Pakistani Army officer of the 71st war. It is dull. Jaideep Ahlawat's performance in the role of Nisar is an important aspect of the film. She has many scenes with Dharmendra, and these have always become memorable. Nisar himself takes Madan Khetrapal to Sargodha and Basantar and welcomes him as a guest. Whereas in the battle of 71, his son Arun Khetrapal was martyred at the hands of Nisar.

Dharmendra's acting and dialogue won hearts

Dharmendra experiences all the moods of ups and downs during his trip to Pakistan. For Madan Khetarpal, Pakistan is an enemy country, the murderer of his son, but when he goes to his village, he gets lost in his memories there. He hums poetry on soil, air and water, meets people with love, remembers the love of his youth. Madan Khetrapal is regularly hosted in the gathering. Here in one scene, he meets his old friend Asrani, who has forgotten everything.

What Madan Khetarpal says during this time is very thoughtful. Madan says – Whatever is visible on the border, why is it not visible inside both the countries. We are bent on killing each other at the border but we love each other inside the country. Now just guess what could be the mood of that father, what kind of anger could be there within him, who himself was a young man, today his son's murderer is standing in front of him but he is talking against the war.

He talks not about war but about peace. He raises questions as to why there are wars between two countries, who carries out these massacres, how long will this continue - he also calls the war between two countries unnecessary. At this point he becomes a character who wins the hearts of the world.

The last scene of twenty-one made me emotional

Now remember the narrative of Dhurandhar. It is true that two traditional enemy countries can never bow before each other. Films like Dhurandhar are a symbolic response to the tactics used by the Pakistani government regarding the Kashmir issue and terrorism in India. This is the reason why Dhurandhar became a blockbuster. But what the filmmaker tried to say through characters like Madan Khetrapal in Ikkis is also a part of history. Madan Khetrapal forgave the Pakistani Army officer standing in front of him who took the life of his son and also gave a message of peace to the whole world.

We have already told that Dhurandhar is not the first film in which the story of entering Pakistan's house and destroying the enemies has been shown, many such films have been made and there were many such occasions in history when brave Indian soldiers had achieved this feat. Pakistan has always lost to India in every war. The war of 1971 is also such a glorious history for India. India broke Pakistan into two and created a new Bangladesh. There were many soldiers like Arun Khetrapal who set an example of bravery by defeating Pakistan.
