The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an important update for students appearing in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the academic session 2025–26. As per the latest official notification, the board has revised the date sheet and rescheduled the examinations that were earlier scheduled for 3 March 2026. This change is crucial for lakhs of students who are currently preparing for the board exams.
According to CBSE, the decision to revise the exam dates has been taken due to administrative reasons, although it also coincides with the Holi festival celebrations on 3 and 4 March 2026 in several parts of the country. To ensure smooth conduct of examinations and to avoid inconvenience to students, schools, and examination staff, the board has decided to shift these papers to new dates.
As per the updated CBSE date sheet, the exams originally scheduled on 3 March 2026 have been rescheduled as follows:
Class 10 Examination
Old Date: 3 March 2026
New Date: 11 March 2026
Class 12 Examination
Old Date: 3 March 2026
New Date: 10 April 2026
CBSE has clearly stated that only the exams scheduled for 3 March have been changed, while all other examination dates will remain unchanged.
For Class 12, the examination scheduled on 3 March was for Legal Studies. This paper will now be conducted on 10 April 2026.
For Class 10, several subjects were scheduled on 3 March, including:
Tibetan
German
National Cadet Corps (NCC)
Bhoti
Bodo
Tangkhul
Japanese
Bhutia
Spanish
Kashmiri
Mizo
Bahasa Melayu
Elements of Book Keeping and Accountancy
All these Class 10 subject examinations will now be held on 11 March 2026.
CBSE has confirmed that the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations will begin on 17 February 2026.
Class 10 exams will continue until 10 March 2026 (with the rescheduled papers extending preparation timelines for some students).
Class 12 exams will conclude on 9 April 2026, except for the rescheduled Legal Studies paper, which will be held on 10 April 2026.
The board has assured students that the revised schedule has been planned carefully to maintain sufficient gaps between exams and ensure fair preparation time.
In its official notice, CBSE stated:
“It is hereby informed that the examinations of Class X and Class XII subjects, which were earlier scheduled to be held on 03 March 2026, have been rescheduled due to administrative reasons.”
The board has also requested schools to promptly inform students and parents about the revised dates so that necessary preparations can be made without confusion.
CBSE clarified that the updated exam dates will be reflected on students’ admit cards once they are issued. Schools have been instructed to cooperate fully in implementing the revised schedule and ensuring that students face no difficulty due to the changes.
Students are advised to:
Carefully note the revised dates for their respective subjects
Update their study plans according to the new schedule
Stay in touch with their schools for official announcements and admit card updates
The revision of the CBSE Board Exam 2026 date sheet is a significant update, especially for students appearing in exams scheduled on 3 March. While the change may initially seem disruptive, it ultimately provides clarity and avoids clashes with major festivals. Students should remain calm, adjust their preparation strategy, and focus on revision to make the most of the additional time available.
CBSE has reiterated that no other exam dates have been changed, and further updates, if any, will be shared through official channels only.
