Team India's ODI captain Shubman Gill's return to the field has been delayed after his injury. Gill was to return from the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Sikkim but he could not be a part of this match. According to reports, Shubman Gill, who was preparing to field for Punjab, fell ill before the match, due to which he had to sit out of the match. Coincidentally, the news of Gill falling ill came on the same day when Team India was to be selected for the ODI series against New Zealand. Now in such a situation, a question has arisen whether he will be fit for the series.
Punjab and Sikkim were to compete in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Saturday, January 3. This match was to mark the return of Gill, who had to play 2 matches in this tournament before the ODI series against New Zealand. The first match was to be played against Sikkim but after eating food before the match, Shubman Gill's health deteriorated. In a report by Sportstar, quoting sources, it has been said that Gill was seen struggling with food poisoning, due to which it was decided not to include him in this match.
