This year, the exam will be conducted in hybrid mode, and candidates can choose a maximum of 5 subjects. Verification through the Aadhaar card and DigiLocker has also been made mandatory.

The application process for CUET UG 2026 began on January 3, 2026.  Like every year, millions of students will be taking this exam to gain admission to top universities in the country. As soon as the NTA opened the application portal, students rushed to fill out the forms. However, filling out the form without complete information and caution can sometimes be costly. The NTA has clarified that CUET UG 2026 applications will only be accepted in online mode.

This year, the exam will be conducted in hybrid mode, and candidates can choose a maximum of 5 subjects. Verification through the Aadhaar card and DigiLocker has also been made mandatory. According to data from previous years, approximately 10 to 15 percent of application forms contain errors. Some of these forms are corrected later during the correction window, but many applications are completely rejected. Therefore, it is essential that students carefully check every detail while filling out the form. If you are also applying for CUET UG 2026, let us tell you today which common mistakes to avoid, otherwise your application may be rejected.

Avoid these mistakes while filling out the CUET UG 2026 form:

1. Uploading photos and signatures in the wrong format - Many students take photos and signatures lightly, whereas this is the most common reason for rejection. Therefore, the photo should be recent, with approximately 80 percent of the face clearly visible. The background should be white. The photo should be without a mask and without glasses. Uploading selfies, blurry or old photos, and photos with glasses are among the common mistakes. 2. Using an old category certificate - This mistake can be very dangerous for students in the OBC-NCL and EWS categories. Therefore, ensure that the certificate is recent. Only certificates in the Central Format will be accepted. Many universities do not accept state-format certificates. If your certificate is old, get it renewed in time.

3. Errors in name, date of birth, or parents' names - The information filled in the CUET UG form must completely match your 10th-grade mark sheet.

Having a different name on your Aadhaar card and the form, even a small difference in spelling, or filling in the wrong date of birth, can be risky. NTA has clearly stated that if the information on the Aadhaar card and other documents does not match, the verification may fail. Therefore, it is better to update your Aadhaar card before filling out the form.

4. Choosing the wrong subjects - Subject selection is the biggest challenge in CUET UG. Many students choose subjects that they did not study in 12th grade. The disadvantage is that many universities, like Delhi University (DU), only consider scores in the subjects studied in 12th grade. Choosing the wrong subjects can even lead to exclusion from counseling.

Therefore, always check your 12th-grade mark sheet when choosing subjects.

5. Ignoring fee payment and the confirmation page - Sometimes students fill out the entire form, but the fee payment is not processed correctly. Until the Confirmation Page is generated, the application is considered incomplete; simply having the fee deducted is not enough. Therefore, download the confirmation page and save a printout or PDF copy.
