A 60-year-old patient allegedly died due to a delay in receiving timely medical care at the emergency ward of the government district hospital on Monday (January 5) early morning.

The deceased has been identified as Manjunath (60), a resident of Lakshmipura village, who was admitted to the district hospital after developing severe breathing difficulties. Family members alleged that despite Manjunath gasping for breath on a stretcher in the emergency care unit, he was not provided immediate treatment.

They further claimed that the doctor on duty was engaged in a mobile phone conversation instead of attending to the patient. According to the family, nearly an hour passed without proper medical attention, during which Manjunath continued to struggle for breath.

He was later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and treatment was initiated, but his condition deteriorated and he succumbed shortly thereafter.

Following the incident, Manjunath’s family members expressed strong anger against the hospital authorities, alleging negligence by the doctors and staff on duty for failing to provide timely treatment. They have demanded accountability and appropriate action against those responsible.
