The illegal construction near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Masjid campus located near Turkman Gate in the country's capital Delhi was removed with bulldozers late night on 6 January. This entire area is near Ramlila Maidan. This illegal construction has been removed after the order of Delhi High Court. During the bulldozer operation, stones were pelted at MCD employees and Delhi Police. This is the reason why the police controlled the crowd by firing tear gas shells. Along with this, heavy police force was deployed in the entire area.
At midnight, the encroachment near Masjid Faiz-e-Ilahi Masjid located near Old Delhi was removed with 30 bulldozers. Central Range Joint Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said that some situations are under control. At present the entire area has been divided into 9 zones. The responsibility of each zone was given to an ADCP level officer.
After the stone pelting at night, the work of removing illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque is still going on. The police have barricaded it and no one is allowed to go inside.
Officials say that the wall of the mosque has not been touched. Bulldozers have been used only in the encroached area and the marriage procession house and dispensary have been removed. There is still 10 to 20% construction left. There are about 200 trucks of debris which will take four days to remove and once again bulldozers will be used to remove the remaining construction.

The encroachment of Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque campus located near Turkman Gate has been removed following the order of the High Court. On January 6 itself, the Delhi High Court had issued a notice on the petition ordering removal of encroachment from the land adjacent to the mosque and cemetery. The petitioner committee says that this land is Waqf property and it pays lease rent for it to the Waqf Board. The Mosque Committee is calling it a 100 year old structure.
However, on the whole matter, MCD says that documents of ownership or legal possession of the additional land were not presented. This order of MCD was challenged in the High Court. Only after this, notice has been issued on Tuesday. The Muslim side committee made it clear in the court that it had no objection to removing the encroachment. Only after this this action has been taken.
DCP Nidhin Valsan said that continuous action is being taken throughout the night. MCD is still doing vandalism. We have deployed our staff for security. The action started at around 1 am. MCD carried out demolition on the occupied land as per the orders of the High Court.

Four to five officers have suffered minor injuries. As soon as we get CCTV camera footage, ground footage and body camera footage, we will identify the miscreants and take legal action.
