There is relief news for school students of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi. Due to falling temperatures, dense fog and cold wave, the governments of these states have declared holidays in schools keeping in mind the health of the students. In this, holidays have been extended in some schools, while winter holidays have been declared in some. These holidays will apply equally to all private and government schools.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, dense morning fog is likely over northwest, central, eastern and north-eastern India during the next 5-7 days. An alert has been issued for cold wave with dense fog in UP, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana on January 7, 2026. A drop in temperature may be seen here in the next 48 hours.
Schools closed till January 10 in many districts of Rajasthan
- Hanumangarh Collector Dr. Khushal Yadav has declared holiday till January 10, 2026 for students up to class 8th in all the schools of the district. Will be applicable to all government and private schools, ICSE, CBSE, aided and other recognized schools. However, teachers will come to school and perform departmental work.
- As per the orders of Sikar Collector Mukul Sharma, schools from class 1 to 8 will remain closed till January 10. This order will be applicable to all government and private schools. There will be holiday in schools in Jhalawar and Sawai Madhopur also till January 10.
- As per the orders of Jaipur Collector Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, there will be holiday for students of class 1 to 5 till January 10, 2026. Whereas schools for classes 6 to 8 will remain closed till January 8. In Churu, students up to class 5th will have holiday till January 10.
- In Jalore, there will be holiday till January 10 for students from pre-primary to class 5th.
- Sriganganagar Collector Manju Sharma has declared holiday till January 12 for children from nursery to class 5th. Whereas the timings of schools from class 6 to 12 have been changed from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.
Holiday in these districts of UP also
- All schools (private CBSE, ICSE, UP Board and other boards) from nursery to class 8th in Ghaziabad will remain closed from 7 to 10 January 2026.
- Instructions have been given to keep schools up to class 12th in Agra district closed till January 8. It has been decided to keep schools up to class 8th closed in Pilibhit till January 10.
- It has been decided to keep all schools in Bareilly and Kannauj closed till January 10. During this period, schools up to class 8th will remain closed.
- There will be holiday in schools up to class 8th in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghazipur till January 10. Classes 9th to 12th will be conducted from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
- In Rae Bareli, there will be a holiday in schools of all boards from class 1 to 8 till January 8. However, as per convenience, the school management can give online classes to the students of class 6th to 8th. This order has been issued by District Magistrate Harshita Mathur
- In Lakhimpur and Firozabad, schools up to class 12th will remain closed till January 14. It has been decided to keep schools up to class 8th closed in Mathura and Kasganj till January 14.
Schools closed till January 15 in Haryana-Delhi
- Under the circular issued by the Directorate of School Education, Haryana, there will be winter vacation from January 1 to 15 for students from nursery to class 12 in all private and government schools. During winter vacations, students of class 10th and 12th can be called to school for practicals, as per pre-determined schedule. All education officers have been instructed to strictly follow the order in their subordinate schools.
- According to the official academic calendar released by the Delhi Education Directorate, all private, aided and unaided schools will remain closed till January 15, 2026, due to winter vacations. However, the schedule may change due to air pollution or cold.
