How much did the price of 24-carat gold fall on MCX?
On Wednesday, January 7, 24-carat gold for February 5, 2026, delivery on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell by 0.83 percent, a decrease of ₹1158, and was trading at ₹1,37,925 per 10 grams (gold price today). During trading, the day's high was ₹1,39,140, and the low was ₹1,37,700 (gold rate today). The previous day, it had closed at ₹1,39,083. According to market experts, this is a minor profit-booking in gold after the recent sharp rise.
Silver falls by more than ₹6800 on MCX
Meanwhile, silver for March 5, 2026, delivery fell by 2.65 percent after four days of gains, dropping by ₹6862 to trade at ₹2,51,949 per kilogram (silver rate today). Earlier in the morning session, silver had risen by ₹881 (0.34%) to reach a new record high of ₹2,59,692 per kg (silver price today). On Tuesday, silver saw a significant surge of ₹13,167 (5.35%) and reached a record level of ₹2,59,322 per kg, although it finally closed at ₹2,58,811.
Gold and silver also fell in the international market
Pressure was also seen in the international market. On Comex, silver fell by $1.41 (1.74%) to $79.63 per ounce. Earlier, it had reached close to $82.58, while an all-time high of $82.67 per ounce was made on December 29. Meanwhile, gold for February delivery fell by $21 (0.47%) to $4,475.10 per ounce.
