Dhaka. Indian sports presenter Riddhima Pathak on Wednesday dismissed reports claiming that she has been ‘removed’ from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) presentation panel. He made it clear that the decision to withdraw from the tournament was his own. In a statement shared on his Instagram story, Pathak said that a “false narrative” is being spread about his removal from BPL.

“This is not true. I decided to opt out on my own. For me, my country always comes first,” she wrote, adding that she values the game of cricket “much more than any single assignment”. Pathak further said that she would not comment further on the matter.

The clarification comes amid media reports in Bangladesh that Pathak was dropped from the BPL presentation squad ahead of the Dhaka leg of the tournament. Local media in Bangladesh reported that he was to host the matches in Dhaka, but he was removed from the panel before he could leave the country. The current edition of BPL has already started, with the first leg taking place in Sylhet, after which the tournament will move to other places including the capital.
