Indore: A devastating road accident in Indore during the early hours of Friday resulted in the immediate death of three young individuals and left one critically injured. The incident has sent shockwaves across the city and sparked renewed discussions around road safety, speeding, and responsible driving.
The fatal accident took place around 5.15 am in the Ralamandal area of Indore. A speeding car lost control and crashed directly into a truck, leading to a violent impact. According to initial police reports, the car was traveling at a very high speed when the collision occurred, leaving no time for corrective action.
Among those who lost their lives were Prerna Bachchan, daughter of former Home Minister Bala Bachchan, and Prakhar Kasliwal, son of Congress state spokesperson Anand Kasliwal. The third deceased victim was identified as Mana Sandhu. All three were pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of the crash.
The fourth occupant of the vehicle, Anushka Rathi, survived the accident but sustained critical injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently undergoing intensive medical treatment. Doctors have described her condition as serious, and she remains under close observation.
According to police officials, the group was returning to Indore after attending a late-night celebration. The occasion was Prakhar Kasliwal’s birthday, and the group had reportedly been at a private party before heading back. Prakhar was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident, while the others were seated as passengers.
Initial investigations suggest that excessive speed played a major role in the crash. Law enforcement officials stated that the car was likely traveling at over 100 kilometers per hour. Liquor bottles were also recovered from inside the vehicle, leading authorities to suspect alcohol consumption prior to the accident. The police have indicated that the driver may have been under the influence at the time, though further forensic tests are awaited to confirm this.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Krishnalal Chandani informed the media that early evidence points toward reckless driving combined with intoxication. He also mentioned that a party had reportedly taken place at a private venue before the accident, which is now part of the ongoing investigation.
The tragedy drew condolences from political leaders across the state. Mohan Yadav expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his sympathies to the grieving families. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured survivor, emphasizing the need for collective reflection during such moments of grief.
Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath also expressed his condolences. He described the incident as heartbreaking and conveyed his prayers for strength and peace for the affected families.
