Trouble with Shankaracharya, sometimes angry with PM Modi, what is the story of Rambhadracharya?
Mokshada of Ekadashi Mokshada There is a mythological story behind this saying, which is mentioned in Vishnu Purana. In ancient times, a king named Vatsa lived in a city named Gokul. The king was very kind and just. One night he saw a scary dream. In his dream he saw that his father was suffering terrible tortures in hell. The king became very sad after seeing this dream. He woke up in the morning and called the brahmins and pundits. The king decided to go to Parvat Muni’s ashram to ask for a solution to the problem. The sage told that his father used to give a lot of trouble to his wife i.e. the king’s mother in his life. They have to suffer the consequences of that sin in hell.
To avoid this, the sage told the king about Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. Mokshada Asked him to fast on Ekadashi so that he can liberate his father. The king did it according to the sage’s advice. Mokshada Fasted on Ekadashi, worshiped Lord Vishnu, did charity and finally offered the entire virtue of the fast to his father. In this way the king’s father attained salvation. Due to this story, this Ekadashi is considered to give freedom and salvation from the sufferings of hell, hence it is called ‘Mokshada‘ It is said.
