Coca-Cola has brought the original FIFA World Cup 2026 trophy to India for the first time in 12 years for a three-day tour ahead of the tournament, which will kick off on June 11 in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The star-studded event, featuring the Brazilian World Cup winner Gilberto Silva, unveiled the trophy along with India’s Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya and AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey.
Gilberto Silva, expressing his excitement for the massive turnout, said, “We always heard that in India cricket is very popular and I was very happy to discover that football is also loved in India.”
Sharing his own journey from a small village, he stated, “Back in the day, growing up in my village in Brazil, I would look up to the football stars as my idols and now due to this game I have also become famous, it feels great.”
Coca-Cola India president, Sanket Ray, noted that “Sports in India is entering a defining phase, marked by wider participation, stronger infrastructure and growing global engagement.”
The trophy itself features a 1974 design, showing two human figures holding the globe. It is crafted from 18-carat gold and weighs 6.175kg. Access to the trophy is exclusive only for the World Cup winners and heads of state.
The trophy will be displayed at different venues for three days, including Delhi and Assam.
