WhatsApp is introducing a feature called Cover Photo, and to make it more secure, the company is preparing to add a privacy section. This will protect users' privacy and prevent anyone from misusing their images.
WhatsApp has been working on adding a Cover Photo feature to its platform for quite some time. This feature will allow users to set a cover image in the background of their profile. Now, it's reported that the company is adding a privacy tool to provide extra security for this feature. This will keep the background image secure and prevent anyone from copying and misusing the photo.
Wabetainfo, a website that tracks upcoming WhatsApp features, reported that the privacy feature for cover photos will be rolled out with the iOS 26.1.10.73 beta update available on the App Store. This will secure the background image.
Four Privacy Tools Available
The report states that a separate privacy section will be added to the app for cover photos. Users will have four privacy options: Everyone, My Contacts, My Contacts Except..., and Nobody. With the "Everyone" option, everyone will be able to see your cover image. Choosing "My Contacts" will allow only your contacts to see your cover image.
Selecting the "My Contacts Except..." option will allow only the users you choose to see your cover image. And choosing "Nobody" will prevent anyone from seeing your cover image. It is believed that this setting will enhance user privacy and provide them with better control.
Feature is in Development
WhatsApp's new privacy feature is currently in the development stage. This means that work is still underway on this feature. It is speculated that this feature may soon be rolled out to beta users for testing.
