Fake accounts have been created on social media platforms Facebook and WhatsApp in the name of Udupi District Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T K, and messages seeking money have been circulated, officials said.

Using these fake accounts, messages have been sent to people asking for money for various reasons. A complaint regarding the matter has already been registered at the Udupi CEN police station.

Despite this, messages demanding money are still being sent from the fake accounts. The district administration has clearly warned the public not to send money to anyone.

The deputy commissioner has urged people not to respond to such messages and to remain alert against online fraud.
