Mythological story to the temple
According to mythology, once sage Vashishtha was burdened with many types of debts (karma debt, family debt, god debt). To get relief from that suffering, he came to Ujjain and did penance for Lord Shiva at a holy place here.
Pleased with his intense devotion, Lord Shiva appeared and said that any devotee who worships me here will be freed from all kinds of debts and obstacles.
Since then this place came to be known as Ranmochan Mahadev. It is also mentioned in the stories that by worshiping here the obstacles of karmic debt, ancestral debt and financial debt are eliminated.
