Gmail users will get new AI features

According to a blog post, the tech giant has introduced several new AI features for its email client. However, many of these features will be available only for Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers. These new features will initially be rolled out in the US English language first. One of the key features is the AI overview, which will now power two key features within Gmail. First, it will answer natural language questions about the inbox in a small box below the search bar, just as it appears in Google Search. Because of this, users no longer need to focus on keyword-based searches or scrolling through their emails to find information. Because emails to simple word queries will appear. Another feature is to select key points from long email threads and summarize them. Most importantly, the email summarization capability will be rolled out to all users. However, natural-language search will only be available to Google’s AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers.

In addition, the company is also adding new tools to compose emails and focus on replies. Help Me Write is a drafting tool that generates or refines email text based on a simple prompt or an ongoing conversation. Along with this, Gmail will also offer Suggested Reply, an advanced version of the classic Smart Reply functionality, which provides quick, context-aware responses. Both these features will be available for free for all users. A new proofread feature with advanced grammar and tone suggestions will be included in Google’s paid AI plans. Google is also trialling a new AI inbox view, which acts as a proactive assistant rather than a traditional list of messages.
