In today’s changing economic landscape, women are no longer limited to dreaming about financial independence—they are actively building businesses and creating employment. To encourage this shift and strengthen women-led entrepreneurship, the Bihar government has launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana (Chief Minister Women Entrepreneur Scheme). Under this ambitious initiative, eligible women can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10 lakh to start or expand their own businesses.
This scheme is designed especially for women who have business ideas and determination but lack access to capital, training, or proper guidance. With a mix of grant support, interest-free loans, and mandatory entrepreneurship training, the program aims to make women self-reliant and active contributors to the state’s economic growth.
Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Yojana is a special component of the broader Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana run by the Bihar government. Its primary objective is to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship among women across all social and economic categories in the state.
A key highlight of the scheme is that it is inclusive in nature—apart from women, transgender individuals are also eligible to apply and avail benefits. The scheme provides both financial and non-financial support to ensure that beneficiaries are not only able to start a business but also sustain and grow it successfully.
Under this scheme, selected applicants can receive financial assistance of up to ₹10,00,000 to set up their enterprise. The funding structure is divided into two parts:
Grant (Subsidy):
Up to 50% of the total amount, with a maximum limit of ₹5,00,000, is provided as a non-repayable grant. This amount does not need to be returned.
Interest-Free Loan:
The remaining 50% (up to ₹5,00,000) is given as a loan at a nominal interest rate of just 1%, subject to specific conditions laid down by the government.
In addition to financial aid, beneficiaries must undergo mandatory entrepreneurship training, which focuses on business planning, financial management, marketing, and compliance. This training plays a crucial role in reducing business failure risks.
