On Thursday, the renowned ski resort Gulmarg in the Kashmir Valley experienced snowfall, accompanied by strong winds in Srinagar and other low-lying areas, as reported by officials.

According to authorities, snowfall began late Thursday evening in Gulmarg, located in the Baramulla district of northern Kashmir. This weather event was attributed to a significant western disturbance affecting Jammu and Kashmir.

Several inches of fresh snow have accumulated in Gulmarg, with moderate snowfall continuing as of the latest updates.

Officials also noted that snowfall occurred in other regions, particularly in the higher altitudes of Kupwara, Baramulla, and Shopian.

Heavy rainfall was reported in various areas of the valley, including Srinagar, persisting until the last report. Authorities indicated that several trees were uprooted, prompting power outages in these regions as a precautionary measure.

The meteorological department had forecasted light to moderate rain and snowfall across the valley's low-lying areas, with the possibility of heavy rainfall in certain locations.
