Big avalanche in Sonamarg, Jammu and Kashmir, viral video shocked the senses, panic spread among people

A big news is coming out from Sonamarg in Jammu and Kashmir. A big avalanche occurred in Sonamarg on Tuesday night. Its video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The video is scary, which shows the seriousness of the bad weather. Due to the avalanche, panic spread among the local people. However, it is a matter of relief that despite the avalanche being dangerous, there has been no news of loss of life or property so far.

In the viral video on social media, it is seen that a snow storm suddenly arises in the hilly area. Within no time this storm engulfs the buildings. Officials said the avalanche occurred at Sonamarg Resort in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir at 10.12 pm on Tuesday night. Rescue teams have been sent to the spot. Officials said that they are monitoring the situation.

Administration appeals to people to be cautious

This video of Sonmarg avalanche is going viral on social media. The administration has asked people living in this area to be cautious. It is being told that there was a massive avalanche in Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir in March last year also. This avalanche occurred in Sarbal area located in Sonamarg of Ganderbal. Suddenly a snow storm engulfed a truck. The people of the area are also in panic due to this avalanche.

Avalanche warning in 11 districts

Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory Disaster Management Authority (JKUTDMA) had issued an avalanche warning for eleven districts of Kashmir including Ganderbal, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kulgam and Kupwara and Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri and Ramban of Jammu region. Due to this continuous snowfall, Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for traffic due to accumulation of snow between Qazigund and Banihal. Despite snow removal work continuing, traffic was not being allowed on the highway.

Control rooms were created to help the public

Officials said that train services were also affected due to snowfall. Some trains were canceled between Banihal and Budgam. Operations resumed a few hours after the track was cleared. The district administration and police have set up control rooms and helpline numbers to help the public. The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain or snowfall at most places and thunderstorm or strong winds in some areas. Light rain is expected on Wednesday also.
