Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj has made a scathing attack on the BJP government over the ground water getting contaminated due to the creation of new mountains of garbage in Delhi. He said that the BJP government is making Delhi the cancer capital of India by giving new mountains of garbage. This government is dumping Bhalswa's garbage in Kirari and is giving the gift of deadly diseases like cancer to the poor Purvanchalis living there.
Saurabh Bhardwaj Said that when we visited inside Kirari area of Delhi on Monday, we were surprised. Thousands of truckloads of garbage have been deposited at Bhalswa Landfill as far as the eye can see. There is so much smell there and so much dust flying all the time that if someone stays there for an hour, the eyes will get irritated and the throat will get hurt. We stayed there for about two hours on Monday and everyone felt that their eyes were burning, so how are the locals living there?
Saurabh Bhardwaj told that there is plastic, polythene and different chemicals inside the entire garbage. A layer of garbage several feet thick has been deposited in the entire Rohini and Kirari area. At one place even mountains of garbage were visible. The mountain of garbage for which the Chief Minister had said that you will have to go, that garbage is being sent from Bhalswa to Kirari.
Saurabh Bhardwaj said that this is not just a matter of money. After a few days, the Aam Aadmi Party will bring out videos from many more areas of Delhi, where thousands of trucks of garbage are being transported from Bhalswa and other landfill sites elsewhere. Scientists and environmentalists should be talked about in this matter and they should be sent a video of that garbage and ask what will this chemical do to people's health?
He said that this will not only cause serious respiratory diseases, but also when the rain will wet the garbage, the leachate from that garbage will become a liquid and will go underground and pollute whatever ground water is there forever. That water will become poison. In areas like Kirari, most people depend on tube well water. People who consume that water will have to face serious diseases like cancer.
