New Delhi: A big news has come to light amid the ongoing religious activities in Prayagraj. Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni, now known as Yamai Mamta Giri, has been thrown out of the Kinnar Akhara.
This decision was taken after the controversial statements given by him on Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. Akhara’s Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi himself has given this information.
The case started with a controversial statement
Mamta Kulkarni had recently given some such statements regarding Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda, which created an uproar at the religious and social level. He had said that it is necessary to give up ego before holding a big position and also made some other comments, which were taken seriously by the Akhara. These statements affected the image of the Akhara and spread resentment among the members.
Kinnar Akhara considered it a violation of discipline. According to the rules of the Akhara, every member is required to follow decorum and traditions. Mamta’s statements surrounded the Akhara in controversies, after which there was a need to take strict action.
Akhara’s strict stance
Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Dr. Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi issued a video message and clarified that now Yamai Mamta Giri has nothing to do with Kinnar Akhara. He said, "The Akhara does not want to get involved in any kind of controversy. Discipline and decorum are binding on everyone. Mamta’s statements have hurt religious sentiments."
Tripathi further said that this is not the first time that Mamata’s statements have put the Akhara in trouble. Such cases have happened in the past also, due to which the Akhara had to face criticism. In view of the continuous controversies, it was unanimously decided that his connection with the Akhara should be completely severed.
Let us tell you, Mamta Kulkarni had taken retirement some time ago and had joined Kinnar Akhara during Mahakumbh. He was given the title of Mahamandaleshwar, but questions were being raised on his appointment and statements from the very beginning.
