It has emerged that in an interview just months after her lavish 2022 wedding, Nicola Peltz struggled to utter the names David and Victoria Beckham. This comes after the model sat down with The Times to discuss the star-studded nuptials, her highly discussed wedding dress, and the reason Nicola decided against wearing her mother-in-law's designs. The interview reemerged after the famous couple's eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, launched explosive statements on Instagram, breaking his silence on the highly publicised family fallout.
As well as accusing his parents of "endlessly" trying to ruin his relationship with Nicola, the 27-year-old also delved into the events of his wedding, which led to them renewing their vows just three years later. In a new op-ed, journalist Polly Barton, who previously interviewed Nicola, made fresh claims about the model's comments and what she believes really happened during the wedding dress row. She revealed that Nicola had trouble referring to her husband's parents by their first names.
Polly wrote: "I was struck by Nicola's borderline inability to speak either David or Victoria's names. The 'she, Victoria, uh' in the above quote, was as direct as it got, otherwise, it was just 'Brooklyn's mom' or 'dad'."
Throughout the interview, the 31-year-old referred to Victoria as she, and then corrected herself and called Posh Spice by her full name when explaining the reason why she didn't end up wearing a wedding dress by the fashion designer.
At the time, Nicola explained: "The truth is that I was in a text chain with my mom, Victoria and Leslie, who's been my stylist for 10 years. We all were on this tech chain together, and I was so excited to start the design process.
"Um, and then Victoria, um, was like... Oh! And this was in the middle of me filming [her directorial debut] Lola James.
"So I was very busy. And then she, Victoria, uh, was very busy, and then we started this text chain, and a few days went by, and I didn't hear anything, then I think Victoria thought since I was on set, maybe she didn't want to upset me, so she called my mom and said that she couldn't make the dress.
Nicola added: "She said that her, um, atelier couldn't make the dress in time."
In his scathing statements, Brooklyn accused his mum of pulling out of designing Nicola's wedding dress at the last minute.
The chef furiously penned: "My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress."
During the lavish celebration, Nicola walked down the aisle in a custom-made Valentino Haute Couture gown.
