In the wake of a tragic incident involving a software engineer in Noida's Sector 150, local authorities have pinpointed 65 hazardous locations throughout the city. Out of these, 52 sites fall under the jurisdiction of the Noida Authority, which has been instructed to complete necessary improvements within a week.

This decision to set a timeline for enhancements was made during a review meeting held on Tuesday, chaired by Krishna Karunesh, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Noida Authority, with officials from various departments in attendance.

The action comes approximately ten days after the death of 27-year-old engineer Yuvraj Mehta, whose vehicle plunged into a water-filled ditch at a sharp turn in Sector 150, leading to his untimely demise.

Following the incident, Yuvraj's father and local residents raised concerns, stating that there were no barricades, warning signs, or reflectors present at the site.

This incident has raised serious questions regarding public safety in the city. Amid allegations of negligence, the Uttar Pradesh government removed Lokesh M, the then CEO of the Noida Authority, from his position, and a junior engineer was also dismissed.

Officials noted that the remaining 13 hazardous locations are associated with other departments, which will receive notices to address the issues by February 20. The review meeting also highlighted problems related to sewer overflow and waterlogging in villages.

Authorities indicated that the situation is worsening due to the dumping of waste and cow dung into drains. To tackle this, a decision was made to invite expressions of interest for scientific waste disposal methods within ten days. Notably, just days before Yuvraj's accident, a truck had also crashed at the same location on January 2.
