Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is upset with the statements of its party. BJP has asked all its Union Ministers and MPs to refrain from making any kind of comment or statement on UGC and related issues.
It has been said by the party that they should strictly follow this instruction. In fact, the party had forbidden its leaders from giving statements on this issue as the politically sensitive UGC controversy escalated, but some MPs and ministers gave statements on it after the Supreme Court's decision. After this, all the MPs and ministers have been instructed by the BJP parliamentary party to refrain from giving statements.
Even in the meeting of BJP spokespersons on Thursday, they were prohibited from giving statement or debate on the UGC issue. Let us tell you that the Supreme Court has put a stay on the new rules of UGC. During the hearing, the Supreme Court said that the language of the new UGC rule is vague. It is possible to misuse it. The court said that there is a need to amend the language in the new rules.
Chief Justice Surya Kant said that not interfering would have dangerous consequences. CJI said that advantage can be taken of the situation. The court said that for now the 2012 rules of UGC will remain in force. Supreme Court issued notice to Center and UGC. The court asked to re-draft the rules. The ban will remain in place until re-drafting of the rules.
There was tremendous anger among the general category of people regarding the new rules of UGC. Despite the government's clarification, the fire of anger was not extinguished. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has given a big decision, which one section is considering as a victory for itself while the other side is calling it a setback for the government. But the question is not about winning or losing, rather the comments made by the Supreme Court regarding this rule are very serious.
