A chiropractor has revealed one exercise that will help you get rid of your double chin. Dr Michael Rowe, who has been providing back, neck and sciatica pain treatment for 15 years, has explained a simple exercise you can carry out to improve your jawline.

In a TikTok video, he shares how the exercise strengthens the muscles between the jaw and the neck - and all you need to carry it out is a tennis ball. He said: "Take your tennis ball and place it right underneath your chin. From there, what we are going to do is press our chin into our chest as much as we can. As you do this, you will feel a ton of muscles in the back of your neck start to fire."

The chiropractor says you should hold this position for about five seconds before relaxing for another five and carrying out the exercise again.

He added: "Repeat this 10 to 15 times. With each repetition, try to press down into it just a little bit more. This is something you want to do about two to three times a day, and if you are feeling soreness, throw some recovery time in there."

This exercise has been backed by Pulse Light Clinic, who offer a similar explanation, saying: "This exercise is also designed to strengthen your jaw muscles. To do this exercise, place a small ball (such as a tennis ball) under your chin. Then, press your chin down against the ball and release. Repeat this exercise 10 - 15 times."

Alongside this, they suggested straight jaw juts, pucker ups, tongue stretches, neck stretches, bottom jaw juts, as well as eating a healthy diet and exercising on a regular basis.

Commenting on his video, one user said: "Awesome, will try! Thank you." Another user added: "Thank you for the information."

A third user said: "I had back problems for two years, I’m 38. His exercises fixed it in one week - I’m not joking. I’ve been going to the gym five days a week for a year now. Thank you."

One more user added: "For anyone who thinks the exercise looks dumb… so do double chins. I should know."

What other exercises can you try to get rid of a double chin?

Straight Jaw Jut
The straight jaw jut helps strengthen the jaw muscles and may reduce the appearance of a double chin. Begin by tilting your head back and looking up at the ceiling. Push your lower jaw forward and hold for 10 seconds, then relax. Repeat 10-15 times.

Pucker Up
The pucker-up exercise targets the muscles around the mouth and chin. Tilt your head back and pucker your lips as if kissing the ceiling. Hold for 5-10 seconds, then relax. Repeat 10-15 times.

Tongue Stretch
The tongue stretch helps tone the muscles in the neck and jaw. Open your mouth wide and extend your tongue as far as possible, aiming to reach your chin. Hold for 10-15 seconds, then relax. Repeat 5-10 times.

Neck Stretch
This stretch targets the neck muscles to improve the appearance of a double chin. Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling while keeping your lips relaxed. Move your lower lip over your top lip as far as possible and hold for 5-10 seconds before releasing. Repeat 5-10 times.

Bottom Jaw Jut
The bottom jaw jut strengthens the muscles in the chin, jaw, and neck. Tilt your head back to face the ceiling, then push your lower jaw forward as far as possible while keeping your lips relaxed. Repeat 5-10 times.
