Govardhan Puja, celebrated a day after Diwali, holds a special place in Indian culture and religious tradition. This festival is especially celebrated to remember the devotion of Lord Shri Krishna and the legend of his amazing miracle of lifting the Govardhan mountain on his little finger and protecting the Gokul residents and their cattle. Annakoot festival is specially organized on this day, in which 56 types of dishes are offered to God. Govardhan Puja will be celebrated in the year 2025 on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This Tithi will start from 22nd and its Tithi will end on 23rd.

According to the belief, when the people of Gokul left the worship of Indradev and started worshiping Govardhan Mountain, Indradev got angry and sent torrential rains. Lord Shri Krishna kept all the Gokul residents and their cattle safe for seven days by lifting Govardhan Mountain on his little finger. Govardhan Puja is celebrated remembering this incident.
