Maharashtra minister’s statement on AR Rahman

Maharashtra Minister Nitish Rane has recently expressed his displeasure over famous singer AR Rahman not getting work in Bollywood. Rane gave a controversial statement using strong words against AR Rahman. He said, “If someone had made such statements against Pakistan, Karachi or Bangladesh, would any Islamic country have allowed him to live?”

Objection to AR Rahman’s presence on Kapil Sharma Show

Rane also questioned AR Rahman’s presence on The Kapil Sharma Show. He said, “Why do we invite such people on programs like ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’? People who make statements against the country have the right to express their opinion, but those who insult our country or the Hindu community should not get any platform.”

Emphasis on the need to create fear

Nitish Rane also said that such people should be boycotted so that in future no one dares to speak against the Hindu community or the Hindu nation. “We need to create fear among people,” he said.

AR Rahman’s statement

AR Rahman had said in a conversation with BBC Asian Network that he has not been getting work in Hindi cinema for the last 8 years. He attributed this to the “power shift” that has taken place in the last 11 years and said that power is now in the hands of those who are not creative. However, AR Rahman also clarified that it was not a communal issue. After receiving backlash on his statements, he clarified his words on The Kapil Sharma Show.
