Gandhinagar, 2 February 2026: : From incubators to semiconductor and satellite manufacturing, the youth of Gujarat are creating not just ideas but entire ecosystems. Earlier, innovation and startups used to happen only in labs, whereas now, due to the efforts of the state government and the hard work of the youth, Gujarat ranks first in the country in the startup sector. From the time when even the name of startups was unknown, today we have become the number one state in the startup sector. Thus, the whole world is taking note of the ability and hard work of Indian youth. Gujarat today is a progressive state in startups and technology, Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia said today at GIFT City, Gandhinagar.
A one-day workshop on ‘Strategic IP Management for Innovation: Patent Analytics and Freedom to Operate-FTO’ was organized today at GIFT City Club, Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Science and Technology Minister Arjun Modhwadia.
On this occasion, the Minister handed over a total of Rs. 10,000 to various innovators under the Atmanirbhar Gujarat Fellowship. 62.84 lakh, under IP commercialization the total amount is Rs. 3 lakh and under Nidhi Prayas Grant Rs. 21.50 Lakh M Total Rs. Checks amounting to Rs 87.34 lakh were awarded.
Minister Modhwadia said that today’s workshop is like a mini Kumbh for the youth working in the incubators and startup sector. Minister Modhwadia had said that, under the guidance of the then Chief Minister and present Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Department of Science and Technology was formed for the first time in Gujarat in the year 2003. As a result of these efforts, centers like Savli Technology and Business Incubator have come into operation in Gujarat. The youth of Gujarat are also making new innovations in the semiconductor sector. There was a time when no one had heard about startups. What is an incubator? There was no talk about it. Whereas today the design, fabrication, testing and packaging of semiconductors used to make satellites are all done in-house at ISRO working in Ahmedabad. Thus, the entire ecosystem of semiconductors used in satellites is also available here.
On this occasion, Science and Technology Secretary P. Bharti had said that in the recently presented budget by the Central Government, special emphasis has been laid on the youth. The role of youth will be very important in making Gujarat among the top five in the economic field by the year 2030.
BIRAC MD Dr. While addressing virtually, Jitendra Kumar said that today more than 10 thousand startups are working in the biotechnology sector through IP, EIR programme, incubation centres, biofoundries/hubs under bio policy and RDIF. For which scale-up, commercialization and capital are very important.
