Bihar's Economic Survey 2025-26 was presented on Monday, in which information about Bihar's economy and prosperity of the districts was given. According to the report of Bihar's Economic Survey 2025-26, the capital Patna has emerged as the richest district of the state. At the same time, Shivhar is at the bottom in the race of development. The report's data shows that the per capita income of Patna is almost six times more than that of Sheohar, which clearly shows the economic inequality that exists within the state.
It is said that the prosperity of the districts has been assessed on the basis of consumption of Petron-Diesel and LPG, in which small savings per capita are also added. According to Economic Survey 2025-26, Patna, Muzaffarpur and Purnia are at first, second and third place respectively in terms of petrol consumption. Whereas Patna, Sheikhpura and Aurangabad are at the top position in diesel consumption. The survey revealed that the districts with lowest petrol consumption include Lakhisarai, Banka and Sheohar, while the lowest consumption of diesel has been recorded in Sheohar, Siwan and Kaimur.
Patna, Begusarai and Gopalganj are at the forefront in terms of LPG consumption, whereas the consumption was found to be lowest in Araria, Banka and Madhepura. These Economic Survey figures clearly show the disparities in development within Bihar. The survey has released the ranking of all 38 districts of the state on the basis of per capita income.
